just saw this on google news.
link to letter here.. .
dear family, i want to tell you that although this has been the worst of my lifes tribulations, that i am still standing.. the obvious reason is that jehovah is the faithful keeper of promises holding to his word that never, would his great love allow his precious children to be tested beyond what we could bear.
I wonder if the brother giving the funeral talk at Whitney's memorial service will give her more than the three minutes every other JW gets when they die?
I wonder how her mother, father, husband, and siblings will feel when they hear the same old standard "sell-the-crowd-on-paradise" talk that you hear at JW funerals.
It does appear that besides the usual service, the family (or "friends of") are planning a private memorial for closer friends and relatives.
JV
surprised i have not seen anyone over there....interesting discussions going on.
as usual, ridicoulous comments by jws.

tresdecu -
I added two comments on that thread. (I used my real name). I pointed to my article about Whitney (http://ex-jw.com/tragedy-in-gresham-oregon) and have had over 200 hits originating from that posting.
There is a lot of arguing about doctrinal issues and the whole thing has veered away from anything supporting Whitney and her family.
My comment was in response to an obvious JW girl who spewed a total lie about Ray Franz. Here is my segment of that thread:
----------------------------------------
" Angie Pangie 24 pts rjscmw People really should educate themselves about JW's. Don't just read the websites that support them. Make sure to read the book Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz. My in-laws are JW's and they are some messed up people.
Timaaa Gonzales 20 pts That makes absolutely no sense. If you want to learn the truth about someone you don't go to their enemies. If you wan't to learn about someone or an organization you go to them first. This way you get the facts and not someones twisted view of them. Timaaa Gonzales 20 pts Raymond Franz was nothing more then a disgruntled JW. The fact that his movement is all but dead and gone is proof that he did not have divine backing. The fact that JW's is progressively moving forward as an organization and that millions have chosen to dedicate and live up to their dedication by serving as God's witnesses proves that God's spirit is upon them. John Hoyle 0 pts Timaaa Gonzales: Raymond Franz led no movements against the JWs. He did write two books about his experiences while part of the 1970s era Governing Body, but he never took the lead in the ex-JW movements. It does nothing for the memory of Miss Heichel to try to defend the Watchtower Society by passing on false information about those who have left the religion due to their own reasons of conscience. unknown 13 pts John Hoyle It also does nothing for the memory of Miss Heihel to defend Raymond Franz. John Hoyle 0 pts Angie Pangie: rjscmw Here is a link to a supportive article written about Whitney Heichel on a JW discussion website. There is much more to this story than meets the untrained eye: http://ex-jw.com/tragedy-in-gresham-oregon. We have all felt the loss of Whitney and grieve along with her family. " ------------------------------------------ "unknown" was awarded 13 points for that little jab back at me - and yet never said a thing about Timaaa Gonzales' jab and total lie about Ray? Geez... So yes, I tried to represent our side of the story briefly, but was not about to get into a cat fight over who was lying to the masses. JVi have!
i worked with hank aaron's daughter for 18 months.
she was a sweet lady.
I worked for the telephone company in Hollywood in the late 1960s and early 70s. I installed and repaired phones at homes and apartments all over Hollywood, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. I was enamored of celebrities and movie stars at first, but after a while they are just like everyone else - just customers. I must say, however, that there were a few standouts that I remember well:
Repaired some phones at Burt Reynolds' home. This was right after his "Dan August" days. He was married to Judy Carne (the "Laugh-In" girl with the English accent). He was famous, but not yet a big star. He wasn't wearing his toupe.
Had to put in a phone in a very difficult valley area in the Hollywood Hills for Liam Dunn. Lived in the very nice basement area of his mother's house. Didn't recognize him at first because of the roles he played. He was on TV all the time, played the mayor in "Blazing Saddles," was the judge in "What's Up Doc?" with Barbara Streisand, and played a small part in "Young Frankenstein." But he was in tons of TV shows over the years. He was only in his 40s when I met him, but he looked like he was 70.
I did some work for Sonny and Cher when they just started. They had matching Mustangs with fake wood grain in the notches in the cars' sides. Sonny was very nice and Cher was extremely shy.
Davey Jones of the Monkees and I crossed Hollywood Blvd. at Gower St. together. I was 5'10" and felt like I towered over him. He was going for some breakfast and asked me if I had any suggestions. I suggested he try Norm's coffee shop and then we walked the six or eight blocks together. We chatted and I really liked him. Very down to earth.
I put in a phone for "Ukelele Ike," Cliff Edwards, in the care facility he was at just before he died in 1971. He had a long career as a singer and actor, but was best known for his voice work at Disney Studios. He played Jimminy Cricket and sang the most famous version of "When you wish upon a star" in "Pinocchio." A sweet man, he asked me to come back and just visit him sometime. He promised to play his guitar for me, but he died before I could get back to see him on my own time. He WAS Jimminy Cricket!
There were so many - and I don't want to bore you. I helped the telephone crews that worked at Columbia, Paramount, and Goldwyn studios. I also worked on the old RKO lot (was Desilu at that time) where they made the "Mission Impossible" TV shows. Got to meet all of those folks. The big guy who rarely had any lines in the show was the friendliest to me, but all of the crew and actors were very pleasant. Just working inside the sound stages pulling cable (they had to be installed, moved, and removed after each production company had the soundstages). Saw a lot of commercials made at Goldwyn and met Barbara Feldon (Get Smart) and a very young Farrah Fawcett when they were just getting started.
The most memorable celebrities I met were Mae West, Marlon Brando, Jack LaLanne, and Robert Culp.
I would go to Mae West's penthouse apartment in the top floor of the building she owned on Rossmore Drive to repair a phone on occasion (long cords would get tangled). The apartment was decorated in white, with fuzzy white rugs and carpet. I only saw her a couple of times (she was quite old by then). She always had a young, handsome man, acting as her "assistant."
Marlon Brando lived up in the Hollywood Hills. I only remember him for one thing. He was naked and wearing a long, heavy robe completely open in the front. He came off as gruff and unfriendly when I met him. He told me to "get to it, get it fixed, and get out."
Besides Cliff Edwards, my favorites were Jack LaLanne and Robert Culp. Here are articles I wrote a few years ago for another website of mine. I think you will find them "educational" and somewhat different than the usual celebrity pieces found in fan magazines.

I had some good times in those days. Both Hollywood and the phone company are not what they were - and they are the worse for it.

google his name and d'fing too.
does anyone know if it is true or not?.
I know this is a little off topic, but I wanted to share a bit of trivia about Phenix City, AL (apparently Steve Klemetti's home base.
Back in the 1930s and '40s Phenix City was about as "bad" as it could get. I have no idea what it is like now, but it definitely had a reputation then.
When I was a very young lad, I remember watching a movie about a crusading District Attorney who tried to clean up the city. I think it was based on a true story. If I remember right, a few years later the feds moved into town and threw out all of the police and elected officials. It was that bad.

are you an american sect?our world headquarters is located in the united states of america.
however, we are not an american sect for the following reasons:.
The Watchtower publishing company and religion (in that order) is very typically American in the same way that the Mormons, Christian Science, and the WWCofG (Herbert W. and Garner Ted Armstrong's version) are American. They promote traditional American values and mores (mo-rays) unlike the Catholic, Orthodox, Episcopal and Presbyterian churches do (all European traditions).
It's amazing how far they have evolved from Russell's version of simple local Bible Study groups to a heirarchal catholic-style modern church led by a group of eight archbishops or demi-cardinals. How long will it be before they reinstitute the president of the governing body and set up a pope or "Archbishop of Canterbury" style leader? I think their American history and basic values prevents them from taking that last step - at least for the near future.
Just the idea of how they dress and their use of magazines and books to spread their word is very typically American. It's amazing that they haven't bought the rights to John T. Molloy's "Dress for Success." It was Molloy who pushed the idea that men dressed in a dark suit, white shirt, and conservative long tie could use their appearance to convince others of that they were more intelligent, held higher standards, and were more successful than the average citizen. Of course we know that all of those well-dressed bankers and stock manipulators that nearly destroyed our economy in 2008 had none of those attributes.
Even the Watchtower's resistance to beards, mustaches, and sideburns on male JWs equates to that same American philosophy that being "clean shaven" is somehow more pleasing to God and makes their message more acceptable to the masses. All it does around here is warn everyone that JWs are in the neighborhood.
Where I live in the Pacific Northwest where no one wears a suit and tie except for a few politicians (when the government is in session) and Jehovah's Witnesses. The other night I went into a "5 Guys" hamburger joint and there were about 40 men and boys of all ages from 9 to 79 who were there wearing black or gray pants, black shoes, white shirts and long ties. A few were wearing suit coats. I overheard several of the locals asking them what was going on. I couldn't hear very clearly, but it was obvious that they had been to a special training session of some sort. They might have been Mormons, but I think it was a local group of JW men going to some special training day. They just had that smell about them...

many religions, including the catholic church, have adopted a blanket approach for all 'ministers of religions' and volunteers with regards to compliance with the working with children act 2005.. another point worthy of mentioning is that all religions and organisations have adopted, and have made publicly available a child protection policy, a working with children protocol, a child abuse handling policy, and a privacy policy.. victoria police also made a submission in which they launched an attack on the catholic church in relation to interfering with police investigations into child abuse.
the catholic church has now placed a "gag" order on all priests and religious personnel prohibiting them from talking to the media or the public about the inquiry.. notably absent was any submission made by the religion of jehovah's witnesses and the watch tower society.. an interesting submission came from the seventh-day adventist church.
their 65 page submission was submitted with the follow letter published on page 2.... .
BTW - An edited and abridged version of Barbara's latest article will be on Ex-JW.com for a short while. There will be an announcement about where the full article will appear permanently very soon.
